How it works
Infiltration
Runoff is conveyed into the Stormcell Infiltration System from either above or
below the media through the perforated distribution pipes. Flows in excess of
the infiltration capacity are stored within the Stormcell blocks offering a large
exfiltration surface area.
Storage
Stormwater is conveyed through the distribution pipes underneath the Stormcell
Storage System. The distribution pipes carry sediment directly through the system,
protecting the storage media from siltation.
A flow control device such as the Reg-U-Flo® Vortex Valve limits flow and causes
the water elevations to rise during large storm events. The rising water passes
through the perforated distribution pipes up through the crushed stone bedding
into the Stormcell blocks. Air from within the media is displaced through the
permeable geotextile into the crushed stone layer and venting pipes.
At the end of a storm event the stored water drains back through the crushed stone
bedding and perforated pipes and through the outlet control manhole.
