DynaDeni
A process plant for the removal of nitrogen using the DynaSand-Deni,
denitrification process.
The water which is to be denitrified is admitted into the DynaSand filter through
an inlet distributor. As the water flows upwards through
the filter bed, nitrite (NO2-) and nitrate (NO3-) are converted into nitrogen (N2) by a layer of micro-organisms formed on the surfaces of the filter grains. The nitrogen is discharged from the filter by the air-lift pump.
Advantages
| • |
Space saving |
| • |
The N2 generated is simply removed by the air-lift pump, thus no "bed bumping" is needed |
| • |
Predators cannot survive the action of the air-lift
pump and sand washer |
| • |
Offers scope for automatically controlled addition of carbon, which prevents an increase in BOD caused by over-dosing |
